The Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture at Mississippi State University (MSU), is seeking applications for a full time, 12-month non-tenure track faculty position at the Extension Instructor rank. The purpose of this position is to prepare, monitor, evaluate, and document professional development activities for the National Training Academy (NTA), a partnership between USDA/APHIS/Wildlife Services and the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture at Mississippi State University (MSU). This position is a grant-funded position and continued employment past one year is dependent upon renewed funding.
Job location: This position is on the main MSU campus, located in Starkville, Mississippi, with frequent overnight trips to various training locations. Job responsibilities: The prosperous candidate will be responsible for all aspects of organizing, developing, and conducting training programs for the new and existing employees of USDA/APHIS/WS to meet specific, prioritized training needs. This position is a grant-funded position and continued employment past one year is dependent upon renewed funding.
Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, rigorous and continuing assessment of training needs and identification of gaps in expertise and competencies related to the profession of wildlife damage management and human-wildlife conflicts; collaborating between MSU and the employees of USDA/APHIS/WS to identify subject matter experts and instructional design of courses; and development of peer-reviewed course curriculum for all training activities. This position will facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods, including, but not limited to, classroom instruction, field application, virtual training, and on the job training using recognized training techniques and tools. The prosperous candidate will be responsible for planning and leading meetings, workshops, and presentations necessary for training completion, including presenting to large groups of people in regional or national arenas. Position responsibilities also include design and application of assessment tools to measure training effectiveness and track/report training results, and providing continuing feedback to program participants and NTA directorship; coordinating logistics for on and off-site training activities including venues and equipment; and managing and maintaining in-house training facilities and equipment.

Appropriate qualifications: Master's degree in wildlife, education, natural resources, or training-related field. broad expertise of instructional design theory and implementation, curriculum development, and modern training methods/techniques. Proven capability to complete full training cycle (needs assessment, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate). Adequate expertise of learning management systems and web delivery tools. Candidate should be highly motivated with the capability to work independently. Strong verbal and written communication expertise are essential. The prosperous candidate should have advanced organizational expertise with the capability to handle multiple assignments, proficiency in MS Office, and familiarity with web-located training. Valid state driver's license required. capability to multi-task and perform routine office work as well as field work in a variety of landscapes and conditions. Up to 50% travel required.

PREFERED Appropriate qualifications: M.S. or Ph.D. degree in wildlife-related or natural resources field with an emphasis on professional development and training. Advanced expertise of traditional and modern training methods and techniques, curriculum development, program evaluation, and learning management systems. capability to prosperously coordinate multiple training events in a professional environment. Abilities to independently research, plan, develop, and coordinate training activities. Demonstrated abilities to partner with internal and external stakeholders regarding employee training needs.
